Nha Trang

I scootered through Nha Trang centre at 4:30am with my camera bag and tripod fixed to by back, weaving through the mass of motocycles that dominate in Vietnam. Eventually I came to the spot I scouted out the day before, looking down at the increasingly active fishing market to the right, the line of house boats, and fishing villages on the water front. The sun rose over my right shoulder spilling light over the scene in front of me, subtly hitting the distant mountains and villages. I took 4 photos and stiched them to make this panoramic photograph. As I was waiting for the sun to rise, a small gathering of locals surrounded my camera and me, they couldn't understand why I wasn't taking any photographs, and just standing there. After attempting to describe why, I realised fairly quickly that apertures, shutter-speeds, and stitching panoramas in Adobe CS 4 wouldn't be easily understood from my use of hand signals. Eventually, the sun rose and this is the scene that unravelled before us.
